Three casinos featuring Las Vegas style gaming to be developed in upstate New
York has been proposed by Governor Andrew Cuomo. In addition, he has also
proposed a delay in the development of New York City casinos.
If the bill is approved, Legislature will consider the expanded gaming
separately for the regions NYC and upstate.
Gov Cuomo has suggested that if the NYC casinos could be delayed and the three
casinos in upstate could be developed, then ultimately it would help the slow
economy in the upstate area. In addition, tourists would be likely to visit both
areas. However, casino developers would not be as interested in the upstate
developments if there was a choice involving NYC.
The bill is still waiting for approval from the state Senate.
