New York's tribal owned casinos reported lower earnings in 2011.
The report states that the earnings are 3 percent lower than in 2010. The three
tribes that own the casinos are the Mohawks, the Oneidas, and the Seneca's.
Over all, across the nation, other tribal casino reported an increase of 3
percent in 2011.
Currently, casinos are only allowed on Indian land in New Your state. However
state lawmakers are proposing a new law that will allow for gaming expansion. If
approved, seven new casinos will be built. These new casino would not be
developed on tribal land.
Three of the proposed casino locations are upstate.
Voters will have final decision in November to approve the gaming expansion.
