The San Felipe Casino officially changed it's name on Monday to Black Mesa Casino.

The casino is owned by the San Felipe Pueblo and is located south of Santa Fe.

The name change has been planned for close to 17 years. The tribe was interested in renaming the casino to something more meaningful to the them. On their land there is a Black Mesa that is very important to them.

In December 2016 the casino applied for the new Black Mesa Casino trademark.

The casino has been undergoing a renovation and rebranding at a cost of $12 million. The travel center will be receiving a new grocery store and laundry. The racetrack will be removed.

In time the casino will be adding a slot machine area that will be smoke free. There will also be a new restaurant.
