Meadowlands in New Jersey is about to have some new
construction projects. Plans call for new hotels, a convention center, new
casinos, and a monorail.
On Tuesday, leaders of business met to announce their plans for the area.
The head of Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, Jim Kirkos, stated that the goal is not to build another Atlantic City. He also stated that the casinos would be part of the development. However, the casinos would not be the main attraction to the area. The convention center as well as the other proposed projects would be key in getting final approval.
Gaming outside of Atlantic City has been a hot topic. There is a proposed amendment that would allow for horse race tracks to operate gaming machines.
