Revenues from the state's casinos on the gulf are still gaining. The report for
January was recently released. $165 million was earned by the casinos statewide
last month. This was a 3.4 percent increase from the same time last year.
$87.3 million was earned by the 11 casinos on the coast. This was 7 percent
higher than last year. However, 17 river casinos reported a 1 percent loss from
the previous year. Their total was $77.7 million.
Choctaw Indian casino did not submit their information. By law, the tribe is not
required by the state to submit their income report.
Casinos in the state have a history of declining revenues for the last two
years. Now the performance has been improving. As of date, Mississippi casinos
have increased revenues by 2.1 percent over the last year.
