The Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort will be undergoing a $26.5 million
renovation. Members of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Council recently approved the
project with a 11 to 1 vote.
Construction is expected to begin by fall of this year. The competition will be
sometime near spring of 2018.
Most of the renovations will be to improve the casino's amenities. Located close
to the casino gaming floor will be a new nightclub and sports bar. The
non-smoking area will be enclosed. The entertainment hall will also receive
updating. There will also be a new VIP lounge and high limit gaming areas. The
poker room will be moved to a different location. The current sub shop will also
undergo a new branding.
In total the construction will take place over seven phases that will start in
August. The first phase will be for the entertainment hall. New lighting
elements will be added. The acoustics will also be upgraded. Floor to ceiling
sound isolation panels will be added. Plus there will be new panels added for
multi-media.
The second phase will begin in September. That will involve the moving of the
high limit gaming area to a new location and the new VIP lounge being built.
