Plans are being made to build a new casino 70 miles south of Grand Rapids. A
vote on Wednesday for the new casino project was made by the Pokagon Band of
Potawatomi Indians. Currently the tribe also owns the Four Winds Casinos that
are located in Hartford and New Buffalo. The new casino will be built in
Dowagiac. This will be the third casino in the Four Winds Casino brand.
The exact location for the new casino has not been released.
Officials for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians stated in a release that
the new gaming facility will create construction jobs as well as employ 100
people for the casino operations.
Construction is planned to begin in the next few months. When completed, the new
Four Winds Dowagiac will operate four game tables and 200 slot machines. There
are also plans for dinning and an event center. The Four Winds Dowagiac will
also share a design that will be consistent with the Four Winds brand.
The grand opening for Four Winds Dowagiac is planned for 2013.
Return to Michigan Casinos.
