Emmett Township's FireKeepers Casino is making progress on its new 8 story hotel.

Previously the foundation for both the hotel and the new event center were finished in September. Other additions also include a new parking lot, retention pond, landscaping, a driveway, and a warehouse. So far a total of 23,000 cubic yards of concrete has been poured for the new additions.

When completed, the facility will grow from 34 acres to 79 acres. The hotel will have 242 guest rooms. Also there will be an event center with over 2,000 seats for concerts, meetings, weddings, conventions, and other entertainment. The seating capacity for the bingo hall will also double from the current 250 seats to 500 seats.

FireKeepers Casino is owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. The expansions are estimated to be competed for the opening in fall of 2012.
