With state and federal approval pending, the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians
is still confident in their casino plans. Tribal Chief, Larry Romanelli, stated
he did not antisapate the ongoing seris of state House committee hearing.
However, they are still within several years construction timeline. The hearings
have added months to the projects construction. Local state representatives are
expecting a conclusion in a few more days.
There will be a public hearing on Friday. It will be held at 9:30PM at the
Muskegon Community College's James L. Stevenson Center for Higher Learning. The
hearing will be to discuss the compact amendment that would allow the tribe to
operate the new casino.
The proposed casino site is the former Great Lakes Downs racetrack.
