Massachusetts's first casino is days away from opening.

Plainridge Park Casino is a slot parlor. The gaming facility is located at the Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville. Penn National Gaming is the casino operator.

The official opening date for the casino is June 24.

Harness racing will still be taking place at the track. 1,200 slot machines, video blackjack, and video poker will be in operation. Two new restaurants will be opening. One of them, Flutie's Sports Pub, is owned by Doug Flutie. A football legend in the state. This will be his first restaurant. There will also be a food court and a lounge.

Casinos in Springfield and Everett will be the next to open. They are scheduled to begin operating by 2017.

Massachusetts has a third remaining casino license yet to award. That casino will be located in the south eastern portion of the state.
