Plans were released on Thursday for the new Earth Hotel to be built at the Mohegan Sun Casino. This will be the second hotel for the gaming center.

The new $120 million hotel will offer 400 guest rooms and be 7 stories tall.

Increased competition from the future Massachusetts casinos has prompted the new hotel project.

Over 1,000 jobs will be created by the project. It is also estimated that 1,200 additional jobs will be created by industries that will supply or service the hotel.

In 2014 the casino was not able to accommodate the room demand. Room bookings for close to 500,000 were lost.

The appearance will be similar to that of the Sky Hotel. It will be built on the riverfront. The natural landscape of the area will play part in the design.

The Mohegan Tribal Nation owns the Mohegan Sun Casino.
