Massachusetts's first slot parlor is ready to begin construction. An announcement was made that the ground breaking will start on Friday.

Only one license was granted for the operation of a slot parlor. Last month, it was awarded to Penn National Gaming.

It will be located in Plainville. At the Plainridge harness race track. The race track will be renamed, Plainridge Park Casino.

1,500 jobs have been created by the project. 1,000 of those jobs will be temporary for the construction. 500 jobs will be permanent.

The casino will operate 1,250 slot machines. As well as harness racing and simulcasting.

In 2011, the development of three new resort casinos were approved by voters.
