Gov. Patrick today signed into law the casino bill recently passed by the state legislature. The law establishes the Massachusetts Gaming Commission with the authority to license one casino in each of three regions of the state and also a slots-only casino located anywhere in the state.
The Commission will consist of five appointed members. The governor will select its chairman, the state attorney general will select one member with law enforcement experience, the state treasurer will select one member with finance experience, and the three administrative officers will jointly select the last two members.
Each casino must be approved by local voters.
