A new bill was introduced on Monday to the Maryland State Senate. The bill would expand the state's current law and possibly add an additional casino.
In the new gaming bill, casinos could expand gaming to include table games. Guests to the casinos would be able to play poker, blackjack, and roulette. Currently the casino are only allowed to offer gaming on slot machines.
The new gaming bill would also allow for a new casino to be built. The new casino would be located at either at the Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, or the National Harbor. Both locations are in Prince George's County.
If approved, the new casino would be the sixth in the state. Previously voters had approved five casinos. Of those, two have already opened. Voters would have to approve the bill to add a sixth casino.
Supporters of the new gaming bill are hopeful that the senate will have a hearing this month on the measure.
