Grant Parish's new casino is preparing to open. The Jena Choctaw Pines Casino is on schedule to open in January of 2013.

Currently the casino is close to 60 percent complete. It has been a long process for the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians to make this casino happen.

The new gaming facility is being built on tribal land north of Pineville and Alexandria off Highway 167.

When completed, the gaming floor will be 46,000 square feet. There will be a poker room and 700 gaming machines. Guests can dine at the 170 person buffet. There will also be a sports bar with 75 seats.

It is estimated that the Jena Choctaw Pines Casino will attract visitors within a 100 mile radius.

This will also be the third casino in the central part of the state operated by a Native American Tribe. The Coushatta Casino Resort is operated by the Coushatta tribe. Marksville's Paragon Casino Resort is operated by the Tunica-Biloxi tribe.
