Sioux City's Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has been given approval for the proposed expansion plan from the state gaming authority.

On August 1st the casino will turn 2 years old.

Plans for the expansion include adding 7800 square feet to the gaming floor on the southeast side. An are for high waging gaming will be added with two blackjack tables and 50 slot machines. There will also be a wine bar and private lounge.

The project will cost $6.5 million to complete.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks and be completed by early 2016.
