Hartford may be the location for a new satalite casino. The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians were given permission to proceed with the satalight casino project since October 2008. This is when the Michigan gaming compact was renegotiated.

The planned Hartford area casino is designed to be smaller than the tribe's current casino The Four Winds, located in New Buffalo. It will have 500 slot machines. This is one sixth the amount of machines as in the Four Winds. 300 new jobs will also be created. This will make the casino the largest employer in the Hartford area.

Presently, local government will have to be approached to negotiate project details before further plans can be made.
