HAMMOND, IN - The Horseshoe Hammond will soon hire 450 employees for the new casino they are building next to their existing riverboat casino. When finished the $500 million project will feature a 6-times-larger gambling floor, 4,000 slot machines, and 135 table games.

Horseshoe GM Rick Mazer said "We are starting to kick off our preliminary plans for the hiring process for the new boat."

Most hires will be table game dealers. Tables need 3 shifts per day of 3 people each, 7 days a week, Mazer said. Supervisors and other personnel will also be added. Training takes 4 months, and a smiling face is the top qualification for the job, Mazer said. "We teach them everything else. There are some basic arithmetic skills that are needed, but by and large it is a positive and upbeat personality."

Horseshoe will host a career fair on February 6th.
