A new casino project in Rockford is getting support by minority leaders.
The support is coming due to belief that the new gaming facility will create new
jobs. In addition, the casino could help the area's economy.
A news conference is scheduled to take place at the Klehm Arboretum & Botanic
Gardens. There, Illinois Minority Companies Association (NIMCA) representatives
and board members from Winnebago County will attend.
Currently there is a state proposal for six new casinos in the state. One of
those proposed casinos will be located in Rockford. Slot machines are also
planned to be operated at the state's horse racing tracks.
