On Monday, the Mayor of Danville, Scott Eisenhauer, will meet with the Illinois
House committee to lobby for a new riverboat casino. The House is meeting next
week to discuss a bill to expand gaming in the state.
SB 737 allows for five new casinos to be built. One of those will be located in
Danville. There will also be discussion for allowing horse racing tracks to
operate electronic gaming.
Mayor Eisenhauer is doing this in efforts to create new jobs and revenue for the
city, calling it "an economic development bill for Danville." The creation of a
casino means thousands of new jobs in the area.
Monday the Executive Committee will meet. If approved, on Tuesday the bill will
be voted on by the House. Eisenhauer stated if the bill passes, he will stay and
talk to as many people as possible to help build support.
