Mohegan Sun casinos reported slightly higher revenue for the fourth-quarter. The 86 percent increase in profits were due to reducing expenses and adding additional popular table games.

The fourth-quarter ended on September 30. $339.4 million was the reported amount of revenue earned. The same time last year the amount was $336.9 million. The net income was $36.5 million. Previously it was $19.6 million.

The casinos are operated by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority. The tribe owns casinos in Uncasville, Connecticut, and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

There has been a decline of slot machine activities equaling lower slot revenue. It was down 1.2 percent from last year at $207 million. However, there was a 2.3 increase from last year for table games with a total revenue of $87.4 million.

The Mohegan tribe is currently looking to develop a casino with at Foxwoods Resorts. The project would be competition for the MGM casino being built in Springfield, MA.
