PRESS RELEASE
Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods today reported to the
Connecticut State Division of Special Revenue that slot revenue for the month of
October was $57.2 million. This amount represents an increase of 4.5 percent in
slot win and 9.7 percent in total slot handle as compared to October of 2009.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, the casino's owner, also reported a $15.4
million payment to the State of Connecticut for October 2010. This contribution
increases the total dollar amount given to the State of Connecticut to
approximately $3.09 billion since January 1993, when slot machines were first
introduced at Foxwoods.
"We're pleased with October's results, but given that the economy as a whole
still appears to be relatively weak, we remain vigilant and focused on providing
the best entertainment value for our customers"
"We're pleased with October's results, but given that the economy as a whole
still appears to be relatively weak, we remain vigilant and focused on providing
the best entertainment value for our customers," said Mashantucket Pequot Gaming
Enterprises (MPGE) Interim President William Sherlock. "Also, as recently
announced, we are very excited that Mr. Scott Butera will be joining us in
December as our new CEO & President."
Unmatched hospitality, dining, entertainment and gaming amenities continue to
drive visitations and high occupancy rates at Foxwoods and MGM Grand at
Foxwoods. North America's largest resort casino offers patrons a vast array of
table games and slot machines and consistently introduces new options that keep
guests coming back including the recently unveiled "Big Spin Slotto" and
"Treasure of the Sun" machines -- the latter of which offers an exclusive
opportunity to win a grand prize cruise for two valued at $1,200.
More guests results in higher payouts at the Northeast's premier entertainment
destination, which awarded more than $27,335,900 in jackpot winnings in October
alone. Norwalk, Conn. resident Robert Lametta hit a jackpot valued at more than
$1 million after testing his luck at the "Mega-Millioniser" penny slot machine
and that same evening another Norwalk resident walked away the proud owner of a
brand new 2011 grey Chevy Camaro, valued at $23,500, after playing the 25-cent
Car Carrousel slot machine. Foxwoods paid out more than $289,854,000 in winnings
in the 2010 fiscal year.
Foxwoods' six casinos boast more than 360 table games with 17 different
varieties, including blackjack, craps, baccarat, roulette, Caribbean stud and
pai gow poker, and the only WPT World Poker Room in New England, with 98 tables
open around-the-clock. MGM Grand at Foxwoods features 60 table games, including
blackjack, roulette, craps, Spanish 21, and 3-card poker. Together, the six
casinos offer more than 6,600 slots, a Rolling Chip program that rewards
frequent players, Wide Area Progressive slot machines, High Stakes Bingo, free
online play and Ultimate Race Book.
To further incentivize repeat visits, Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods reward
customers for repeat business through the property's loyalty card program. Dream
Card members win big daily with benefits and services including overnight
accommodations at one of the property's four award-winning hotels; tickets to
concerts and special VIP events; superior dining options; golf memberships; spa
services; and exclusive invitations to special events and promotions.
