The historic Elks Tower in downtown Sacramento may become a new casino. A permit
for conditional use has been filled. If approved the tower will become a gaming
venue that will be open 24 hours daily. They will also be a restaurant, lounge,
and bar.
If the project is approved, card games are the only games that would be offered.
A small fee would be collected from the guests before the hand is dealt. Players
would play against each other.
Currently there are three card rooms in Sacramento. Four are allowed.
The tower offers 224 feet of space. The location is being used as office space.
There is also a restaurant and ballroom.
The planning and design commission will review the permit request. It is
expected that an answer will be given within six months.
