The ground breaking for the Granton Resort & Casino was held today.
After the groundbreaking ceremony, construction began. Over 1,000 construction
jobs have been created by the project. 100 companies from California have been
used.
The casino resort originally opened in 2013 at a cost of $800 million. The new
expansion project will cost $175 million to complete.
The project will add 342,000 square feet to the southern section of the
facility. Plans include a 6 story tall resort with 200 guest rooms. There will
also be a convention center, spa, and pool.
It is located in Rohnert Park. Off of U.S. Highway 101.
The casino resort is owned by the Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria.
Station Casinos LLC is the management company.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late 2016.
