Proposition 48 was rejected by voters last November. The proposition would have allowed for a tribal owned casino to be built north of Fresno, in Madera.
$631,000 was spent by supporters of the measure. $18 million was spent by interest groups against the proposition.
North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians contributed much of the support money. As well as Station Casinos Inc. The company would have been a partner with the tribe to develop the Madera casino.
Table Mountain Rancheria was responsible for funding anti support for the measure. The tribe operates a competing casino.
