The Karuk Tribe is closer to being able to build their casino in Yreka.
A gaming compact was agreed upon between the tribe and the state. Governor
Edmund G. Brown signed the compact on Thursday. Up to 1,500 slot machines will
be allowed to be operated at the proposed casino.
Station Casinos is bidding to be the operating management company for the
casino.
In 2012, $27.9 billion was paid to the state by California tribal casinos.
