PRESS RELEASE
August 22, 2011
It's big and it's lucrative. Tournament poker returns to Commerce Casino this
month when the 17-day Commerce Hold 'Em Series with a $2 million estimated prize
pool begins on August 31.
The Hold 'Em Series marks a return to Commerce Casino's major tournament season.
It is one of the premier events on the poker calendar and has become a mainstay
for players eager to return to the tournament scene after a summer layoff.
The Hold 'Em Series kicks off on August 31 with a $225 Buy-in No Limit Hold 'Em
tournament with $300,000 guaranteed. There are 4 starting days to this event,
August 31-September 3. Players who bust out may re-enter on any of the following
starting days. Re-entry fee is $225.
The 17-day series leads into the No Limit Hold 'Em Championship event on
September 16. The buy-in for this 3-day event is $2,085.
As the Series moves on, there will be daily events as well as multi-day
tournaments. Championship Supersatellites event will be held every day from
August 31 to September 14. There are $100 re-buys during the first three levels
and the winners will get a seat (worth $2,085) into the Championship event.
An All-In or Fold No Limit Hold 'Em tournament is scheduled for September 3. It
is a one-day event with $25,000 guaranteed and $10,000 for first place. This
unique format provides players with two options -- go all-in or fold.
Another in the succession of major events is scheduled for September 4 -- a
Knockout Bounty No Limit Hold 'Em event with $50,000 Guaranteed and $50 for
every player you eliminate.
"The Hold 'Em Series is big and there are several key components to it," said
John Griffo, Director of Casino Development at Commerce Casino. "The guarantees
are significant and impressive, beginning with the $300,000 guarantee in the
very first event. We believe that gets people's attention and gets the Series
off to a very good start.
"We've seen an increase in our daily tournaments as well as special events. We
see the trend continuing."
Other key components of the Series include the Double Stack Turbo No Limit Hold
'Em, September 5, and Six-Handed No Limit Hold 'Em, September 6. The Double
Stack Turbo, with a $50,000 prize pool, has a $340 buy-in. Players start with
10,000 in chips.
The final event on September 17 is our signature $225 No Limit Hold 'Em
Etern-ament, with 2-hour long levels and one re-entry during the 1st level. It
offers a $50,000 guaranteed.
Among other anticipated events in the Hold 'Em Series is the $10,000 Facebook
Exclusive No Limit Hold 'Em on September 16. It is Commerce Casino's second
Facebook Fan event and follows the inaugural which proved enormously successful
on many fronts. The buy-in is $60 and eligibility is based on being a "Fan" of
Commerce Casino on the social networking website.
