Forty of Southern California's best cover bands will compete for $40,000 in
prize money at Viejas Casino's Ultimate Music Challenge - Southern California's
biggest cover band smack down.
The 5th annual contest, presented by Viejas Casino and Jack FM 100.7, will be
held at the DreamCatcher at Viejas Casino. The competition will be held every
Sunday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., August 14 through October 23. Up to five
bands will perform each Sunday, with the winning bands advancing to the
Semifinals, then to the Championship on October 23. The Ultimate Music Challenge
is free to attend, but you must be at least 21 years old.
The winning cover band takes home $25,000, second place earns $10,000 and 3rd
place pays $5,000. A panel of distinguished judges will score each band's
performance in the categories of showmanship, musical ability and audience
response.
The judges include Jack FM 100.7 on-air personality Chris Boyer; Alicia
Champion, an award-winning performer and record producer; and Edwin Decker,
freelance music journalist and humor columnist.
Cover bands competing this year represent virtually every genre of music,
including rock, R&B, pop, funk, Latin, honky tonk and more.
