PRESS RELEASE
PALA, California - Pala Casino Spa & Resort put the finishing touches on its
$100 million expansion and renovation this week with the completion of
state-of-the art upgrades to its hotel rooms and suites.
Pala has 507 hotel rooms, including 82 luxury suites. The upgrades to each room
include new 42-inch, flat-screen televisions, new luxury armoires, I-Pod docking
clock radios, Keurig coffee makers in all suites, new dry vanities with lighted
make-up mirrors and the Pala Spa amenity line of shampoo, conditioner, soap and
lotion. Each room and suite also has high-speed internet services and all suites
have in-room Jacuzzis. Another upgrade is the replacement of bedding with
Simmons Felicity II mattresses.
"The upgrades to our hotel rooms and suites not only complete our renovation but
also provide our hotel guests the ultimate experience in comfort and luxury. We
have been selected a AAA Four Diamond Award winner for six consecutive years by
the American Automobile Association and one of our goals is to maintain that
status," said Bill Bembenek, Pala's chief executive officer.
Pala started the expansion and renovation 18 months ago. It has also included
the opening of two new restaurants, Amigos Mexican eatery and Sushi Sake, a
full-service sushi bar, along with the expansion of its highly-rated buffet,
Choices, which receives daily reviews from guests like Geoff K. from Los
Angeles, who calls it "Excellent, equal to the top Vegas buffets." Choices is
now the largest buffet in Southern California.
Pala also added a new, 15-table poker room along with a new High Limit Area that
creates a "casino within a casino." The High Limit area offers its own slot
room, table games room and has its own lounge as well as private entrances. Pala
now has 10 restaurants and guests can enjoy everything from a quick snack to a
candlelight dinner.
Bembenek said that Pala is the only Southern California gaming and entertainment
venue that significantly re-invested in its property this year, despite the
difficult economy.
"The project created 650 construction jobs during the year and with the
expansion, we have created 120 new jobs at Pala in food and beverage, gaming and
our support team," he said.
In November, Swinerton Builders, a California construction firm, received a
Build San Diego Award from the San Diego Chapter of Associated General
Contractors in the Building Construction - Private Work category for the Pala
expansion and renovation.
