North Star Mohican Casino opens expansion

January 26, 2009

BOWLER, WI - The North Star Mohican Casino in Bowler has opened the first phase of its $100 million expansion with the introduction of 66,000 square feet of additional gaming area. It features 1,225 slot machines and 14 table games.

There are two new restaurants. The Longhouse restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and the Aroma Cafe is always open during casino hours.

At the center of the new gaming area is a 54-seat center bar located beneath a large skylight. A second bar, The Groove lounge, is a place to relax and take in musical acts that will perform Friday and Saturday nights

"We're trying to give a little sense of Las Vegas in the Northwoods," said Molly Miller, marketing manager for the casino. "We'll have great entertainment; it's not just gambling. When we get that done, it will be a huge, huge event. The old building was add-on after add-on."

The second phase of expansion is scheduled for completion in 2010. It will include a 150-room hotel, a 13,000-square-foot convention center, a steakhouse and a luxury spa.
