FERNDALE, WA - The Lummi will break ground next month and an $8 million expansion project to add 8,000 square feet and 200 new slot machines to their Silver Reef Casino. Completion will take about 6 months.

The Silver Reef opened six years ago in Ferndale, Washington, and has already expanded twice. Its facilities include four restaurants, a 105-room hotel, and an events center.

The number of slot machines had been limited to 675, but last year a legal settlement between the Spokane Tribe and the state resulted in the Lummis and other tribes gaining new authorization to add up to 300 machines.

Lummi Indian Business Council Chairman Henry Cagey said, “Gaming has allowed the tribe to do more for the community and the (Lummi) nation.”
