New Casino Planned for Tacoma

The Puyallup Tribe plan to build a new large Las-Vegas-style casino along Interstate 5 in Tacoma. It has hired WHPacific Inc., an engineering firm from Anchorage, Alaska, to provide the master plan for a 150,000-square-foot casino on a 50-acre site.  Construction is expected to start in the second quarter of 2009.

The tribe is currently expanding their Fife location with a $150 project to upgrade a former Best Western hotel, add a 5-level parking garage, and build a 90,000-square-foot-convention center.
