PITTSBURG - The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved plans by the Meadows Racetrack & Casino to expand their new casino to 350,000 square feet with 4,200 slot machines. The new facility will open in June 2009 replacing the temporary casino which opened in June 2007. The new gaming space will be large enough to accommodate table games if Pennsylvania legalizes them in the future. In addition, a 5-level parking garage with 1,050-spaces will be built in place of the originally planned hotel and spa. They have delayed until a later phase. A 16 to 18 lane bowling alley will be built on the bottom floor. The original plan also specified 3,000 slot machines instead of 4,200.
Spokesman David La Torre said, "We're involved in an intense competitive
situation to West Virginia casinos that are only minutes away, so expanding our
floor and adding additional machines is going to be able to provide our visitors
with more entertainment options.” Return to Pennsylvania Casinos. |
