Expansion Plan Approved for the Meadows Racino

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved expansion plans for the Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington including a five-story, 200-room hotel.

The plans adds 1,400 square feet to the current 82,200 square foot temporary casino for construction of a new high-limits slot machine room. The high-limit slots will have a betting range from $1 to $25 per play. Currently there are a total of 1,738 slot machines with 880 penny slots and two $25 slots. The new high-limit room will have eighty $25 slots.

The grandstand at the Meadows was demolished last September and will be replaced by a new grandstand and track as part of a $140 million plan by the owners. Their plans include the hotel and a permanent casino both opening in the summer of 2009. The casino will be 350,000-square-foot permanent casino and feature 3,000 slot machines and several restaurants.
