WinStar World Casino winner takes home $700K

THACKERVILLE, OK - Winstar World Casino's $3 million guaranteed "The
River" Poker Championship began with 1,450 players and ended Sunday with Jim
Carroll, a Richardson Texas man, taking home $700,000 and a custom-made $20,000
bracelet.
"I knew I could win it!" Carroll said. "The staff was great, the tournament was
well run and it all gave me a good feeling." Carroll’s winning play was an
all-in bluff against poker professional Young Cho of Enid, OK. "He's a better
player than me," said Carroll. "So, I knew I had to change it up. I felt good
about that hand."
"The River" Poker Championship began with a series of satellites and
mega-satellites. These mini-tournaments were televised in Oklahoma, the
Dallas/Fort Worth area via the flagship stations WFAA (channel 8) and KFDW
(Channel 52). Networks including Comcast, Direct TV, DISH, Cox Sports, TW Sports
and Altitude Sports broadcasted nationally. The shows were also broadcast
internationally to Japan, Russia, Venezuela, Brazil, Central America, Argentina,
Uruguay, Paraguay, Romania, Turkey, South Korea, Pakistan Philippines, France,
Switzerland.
Jay Wiles, the Winstar poker room manager said "This is the largest guaranteed
tournament in the state of Oklahoma,". "We want the best for the players and
will continue to provide them with the best we have to offer."
