Choctaw Will Build Destination Resort at Durant
November 26, 2007DURANT - The Choctaw Nation is planning a major expansion of its Durant resort casino by dismantling its current casino and adding 300,000 more square feet for gaming, a hotel, and an oasis area with large swimming pools, a water slide, and a swim-up soda bar.
The renovations completed in 2006 have been inadequate for satisfying customer demand, so the expanded casino will add 3,000 more slots. On top of the casino will be a ten-story hotel with 350 guest rooms.
Construction begins in January 2008 and will be completed in 2010. Additional expansion will continue in phases through 2015, but will be modified if Texas approves its own casinos. The majority of Durant visitors come from Texas.
