Voters change site for Hollywood Casino Columbus
May 08, 2010
Voters have spoken. Penn National Gaming’s secondary site plan was approved.
Certain locations were preapproved by the original law. The company had hoped to
change the planned site from the Arena District to the former General Motors
plant.
Plans are already going into effect for the Hollywood Casino Columbus. The new
casino will be built on 123 acres. Due to open late 2012, the finished casino
will be 180,000 square feet with a 4,000 space parking garage. The casino will
have 100 table games, 25 poker tables, and thousands of slot machines.
The creation of over 5,000 new jobs is expected. 3,000 of those will be
construction related. The other 2,000 will be permanent. Tax revenues from the
expected earnings are in the hundreds of millions. Each of the state’s school
districts will benefit.
Return to Ohio Casinos.
