May 1, 2008

WILMINGTON, OH - Lyle Berman, chief executive of Minnesota-based Lakes Entertainment and co-founder of the World Poker Tour, has joined the coalition to legalize gambling and build a major casino destination in Wilmington, Ohio.

MyOhioNow.com is seeking to gather 402,225 signatures to place a constitutional amendment on the fall ballot and win voter approval for a single casino that would share 30 percent of gambling revenues with all 88 counties.

In an interview Lyle Berman said he envisions the following for the new
casino:

  • $600 million project
  • 220,000-square-feet-casino floor
  • 4,000 slot machines
  • 100 table games
  • Full-size poker room
  • 1,500-room hotel
  • 5,000 employees
  • Casino revenues $500-$800 annually
  • Hotel and food revenues $100 million annually

“A casino of this size will be a spark plug creating economic activity throughout the state,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity for Ohio and Lakes Entertainment shareholders.”
