Cherokee consider new casino in western NC
August 22, 2008
The Eastern Band of the Cherokee Tribe is deciding whether to build a new casino
near the Tennessee state line.
The tribe has completed a feasibility study to help determine the potential
revenues and environmental issues. A final site has not been selected, however
the tribe is in the final stages of deciding whether to proceed with the
project.
A spokesman for the Cherokee said employment is low for their people, and a new
casino would bring new jobs for the state.
