Voters reject Jefferson City Casino

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - Last week the voters in Jefferson City defeated
two propositions to authorize a local casino. Both lost 62% to 38%.
1. A measure to remove a ban on casinos from the city charter.
2. A measure to allow the city to issue a casino license to prospective
A supporter with the group Casino Jefferson City, Ed Storey, said "I firmly
believe that this would be a good source of revenue for Jefferson City that
would not otherwise be available to improve our community and I still believe
