May brought a decrease in Mississippi’s casino revenue due to the massive flooding that occurred. 19 riverfront casinos were forced to close. The high water levels managed to keep the casinos closed for a long length of time. May earnings were $41 million. In comparison, the casinos had earned $107.8 in May of 2010. There were 11 casinos on the Gulf Coast that were not affected by the flood. Those casinos continued to operate and were able to earn $96.2 million. The total coastal casino earnings for the state of Mississippi was $137.2 million. It was 32.4 percent lower than the previous year. Return to Mississippi Casinos. |
