A Child's Wish is Granted by Pearl River Resort and Larry the Cable Guy
PRESS RELEASE
May 26, 2011
Pearl River Resort, a development of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians,
along with actor and comedian Larry the Cable Guy helped "git-r-done" and grant
a big wish for a local boy suffering with a life-threatening condition.
Before his live performance at The Arena at Golden Moon on May 14, Larry the
Cable Guy, best known as one of the three performers of the successful Blue
Collar Comedy Tour series, took the time to meet and entertain 10 year old
cancer patient Brian of Philadelphia, MS.
"Larry delighted Brian," said DJ Lindfors, Entertainment Director for Pearl
River Resort. "He understands how much the gift of his time and just helping a
kid laugh and have a good time can inspire them. When we asked Larry's team
about the opportunity, they said it would be an honor to lend a hand."
A member of the boy's family contacted Pearl River Resort officials to ask if
they could arrange for him to attend the live comedy show and meet Larry the
Cable Guy. Brian is fighting cancer but his family says he is a huge comedy fan
and loves to dress-up like his comedy idol, Larry the Cable Guy. Brian has been
diagnosed with lymphoma – a cancer that affects the lymphatic cells of the
immune system. According to reports from his family members, however, Brian is
doing much better after the celebrity visit.
"Pearl River Resort is proud to have been part of such a noble effort in making
the young boy's wish come true," said Susan O'Connell, Executive Vice President
and COO for Pearl River Resort. "We are thankful that Larry was willing to give
his time to help grant the wish of a child who is facing such a major medical
battle."
