LANSING, MI - A Michigan state election board announced Friday it had completed preliminary reviews on two separate ballot proposals to expand gambling in the state.

The Board of State Canvassers approved a petition by a group named "Michigan Is Yours" which supports a proposal to authorize casinos in Benton Harbor, Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Muskegon and Romulus. Their proposal includes a casino at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The board also approved a petition by a group named "Racing to Save Michigan" which supports adding eight new casinos including five at Michigan horse racing tracks.

To qualify for the November ballot, the supporters of these petitions will have to gather more than 300,000 signatures from Michigan voters.
