|
April 16, 2008
Senate voted 23-12 BANGOR - The state Senate passed a new casino expansion bill for the Penobscot Indians to add 100 slot machines on their reservation near Old Town. The bill originally sought 400 machines but was downsized to 100 total. The House had approved the measure the day before. The bill now goes to
Governor John Baldacci for signature. The governor has long opposed new gambling
legislation. If he decides to veto the bill, a 2/3 vote by the House and Senate
is required to override it. Return to Maine Casinos. |
