Wyandotte County casino gets go-ahead for construction
February 16, 2010
TOPEKA - The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission signed off on the $368 million
dollar Hollywood Casino Friday. It will be located around the Kansas Speedway.
The approval paves the way for construction to begin on the new facility, which
the developers say should begin “early in the second half” of this year.
The casino will have a 100,000-square-foot casino floor with 2,300 slot machines
and 86 table games. It will include restaurants and a lounge. A later phase will
add a hotel and shopping center.
The casino is the second to be constructed under the state’s gaming act of 2007
and is expected to open during the first half of 2012.
