Sac & Fox Casino Expansion

April 16, 2008

Sac & Fox Casino held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to celebrate the grand reopening of the newly-expanded casino. During a three-day celebration, $18,000 in cash and prizes were given away.

The $3.2 million expansion project added 670 new slot machines, poker rooms, and a VIP room, making Sac & Fox Casino the second largest gaming facility in Kansas.

The Director of Facilities at the Sac & Fox Casino, Phillip Nelson said, "We are hoping it increases business quite a bit. There is a lot of traffic that goes up and down highway 75. It’s a good piece of road. We are hoping to draw folks out of the city for more of a rural getaway. The expansion we have now places us at the second largest casino in Kansas, and with our new employees and existing employee base. I believe we are one of the finest casinos in the region."

Chairperson for the Sac & Fox Tribe, Fredia Perkins said, “We are hoping to fold. The numbers have been good. We have had part of it open, but now that the whole thing is open. I am hoping the numbers will improve a lot."

The tribe is considering plans to add a hotel. Perkins said, "We hope to maybe do cabins first just some cabins, and then go on to a larger hotel after that."
