Commission seeks more time to negotiate casino contracts
March 6, 2008
TOPEKA, KS - Last years gambling law set a deadline at the end of this month for
the Kansas Lottery Commission to negotiate contracts for four state-owned resort
casinos. The commission has 13 contracts in negotiation which will be sent to a
review board for the final selections.
Executive Director Ed Van Petten said this week that the commission needs more
time to complete their work and will ask the governor for a 60-day extension. He
added that he expects the governor to accept the request.
