Only One Proposal for SE Casino
December 7, 2007
BAXTER SPRINGS, KS – As the application deadline passed, only one application
was submitted for a casino in Southeast Kansas. The gambling law enacted last
April allows one casino in either Cherokee or Crawford county.
The lone proposal was submitted by Penn National Gaming for a casino hotel
complex near the Baxter Springs exit on Interstate 44 near the Oklahoma and
Missouri borders.
Lottery officials have 90 days to review the application and negotiate a
contract with Penn National Gaming. If so, it would go to the Lottery Gaming
Facility Review Board for final approval.
