Indiana Live! Casino to host Texaco Country Showdown

Indiana’s best local country music performers will take the first step toward winning a $100,000 grand prize at the 2011 Texaco Country Showdown presented by Indiana Live! Casino.

Performances will take place at Indiana Live! Casino’s Center Bar on April 7, April 14, and April 21 at 7PM. Participants must be 21 years old or older to participate in the event at Indiana Live! Casino.

“Indiana Live! Casino is proud to sponsor the Texaco Country Showdown,” said Indiana Live! Casino General Manager Richard Kline. “We realize there are many talented country musicians in the State of Indiana, and this showdown gives these bands and individuals a chance to showcase their musical talents.”

A maximum of four bands or individuals will perform original music during each night’s competition. Indianapolis-based country music station WFMS, the event’s co-sponsor, will select performers and supply a panel of judges.

The winner of the event at Indiana Live! Casino advances to the State Finals, which will be held at the Best Buy Country Music Expo on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Top prize is $1,000.

The winner of the State Finals earns a berth in the Regional Finals. Regional winners advance to the National Finals, where a grand prize of $100,000 will be awarded to the winner. The National Finals will be held at Ryman Auditorium, the historic home of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
