June 2, 2006
ANDERSON, IN - The Hoosier Park horse track held a ribbon-cutting
ceremony today to officially open its new casino, and a long line a patrons
began filing into the 93,000 square-foot facility. An estimated 3 million
patrons are expected to visit in the first year.
Indiana Downs hopes to open its 70,000-square-foot casino next week. It is a
temporary structure that will be replaced by a 270,000 square-foot permanent
casino next year.
Both Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs are licensed for 2,000 slot machines each
after paying a fee of $250 million to the state.
